The woman and the man come back and sit in the chairs. The woman's mother applies kumkum, gandham, and offers paspu for mangalyam. The mother places four kinds of fruits, and five savory and sweet foods in her wollu/kongu. Then she blesses her with akshanthalu for safe delivery. The mother then places five varieties of sweet and savory food items in the man's wollu.

After everyone has blessed the mum-to-be and fed her a fair amount of sweets, the mum-to-be now has to pick one small bundle of the many small bundles of rice dishes tied in an opaque cloth. According to the Vedic scripts, the birth and death is a pre-planned one by the almighty. Seemantham used to be one of the 3 or 4 separate events celebrating the mum-to-be, but today, all of these are combined as one and celebrated in a single occasion in the 5th, 7th OR 9th month of pregnancy. The word "Seemantham/Seemantha" refers to parting the hair just above the eyebrow where the Goddess of Wealth, Sri Mahalakshmi, resides. This leads to the practice of applying kumkum to the parting in order to propitiate the Goddess Sri Lakshmi such that when a woman delivers a child, she is considered to be an embodiment of the Goddess Lakshmi herself. On this specific occasion, they used to grind the tender leaves of Banyan tree which is in its formation, mixed with raw cold milk and make it to a paste.
At this junction, a specific mantra is recited, which makes the route to the tube perfect as the vibration + the porcupine quill acting as nodal guiding act. Thus the inhaled essence of milk and banyan leave juice, forms like a paste and straightly carried to her womb.
